Mrs Ferguson narrowly lost her Senatorial seat in the October 2014 general election in a nail-biting finish with the then Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf and the result was eventually decided on a recount.
It brought to an end her 12-year career in the States, which began when she was elected as a St Brelade Deputy in 2002, but just hours after Senator Cameron announced to the States Assembly that she was to resign, Mrs Ferguson confirmed that she would stand.
Meanwhile, John Young – another former St Brelade Deputy – refused to rule himself out of the race, but said he would ‘take stock’ before making any firm decision, while former St Brelade Deputy Sean Power confirmed he would not be standing.
