On Monday, the Health and Social Security Scrutiny Panel released a report into the use of the controversial contracts – making 21 recommendations.

They included abolishing exclusivity clauses, which mean employees can only work for one company, and ensuring employers review the contract after six months to consider whether a permanent job would be more appropriate.

However, Social Security Minister Susie Pinel said that while some of the recommendations were valid, the request to bring legislation changes to the States within six months was impractical and would delay other important pieces of work.
