Active Card price rise?

During a recent quarterly hearing of the Economic Affairs Scrutiny Panel, St Brelade Constable Steve Pallett said he could not rule out increasing the price of an Active Card, which covers sports centres such as Fort Regent and Les Quennevais.

In the Medium Term Financial Plan Addition, which was published last month, more than £4.5 million worth of cuts were targeted in the Economic Development Department by 2019, including cutbacks of up to £1.1 million from its budget to support sport in the Island.

Mr Pallett added that raising the cost of using Jersey’s fitness centres would be contrary to the States’ Fit For Future strategy, which is trying to encourage more Islanders to be more involved in sport.
