The event was called Gariel’s Walk to highlight the fact that at just three years of age, Filipino child Gariel and others like him, walk up to 1.2 miles per day, in all weathers, to a feeding centre on the island of Negros for their first, and sometimes only, meal of the day.
The Talent Trust has been feeding children in the Philippines for 26 years, the work being overseen by Alex and Rodelyn Barcellano, who monitor the health of the children, supervise the feeding centres and report back to the team in Jersey.
