But no matter your point of view, the La Moye weather radar has been a key piece of forecasting equipment for years.
Now, Islanders are being asked how the radar’s dome could be recycled for use in the community after it is replaced.
A new shell is due to be installed at the site as part of a project to upgrade the facility, and the Jersey Met Office and the States recycling unit are calling for suggestions about how the old dome could be used.
Suggestions for recycling the dome can be sent to enquiries@jerseymet.gov.je and must be received by 5 pm on Monday 16 May.
