Problems still for HSBC customers

In February last year the JEP reported that some Islanders who bank with HSBC had received letters asking them to update their details – customers were being asked to provide information about their salary and monthly outgoings, as well as other details, and return it to HSBC before April 2015.

However, dozens of Jersey customers have recently taken to Facebook to express their anger over the bank’s actions, with one Islander claiming that his debit card and standing orders had been cancelled, despite providing the information that HSBC had requested.

HSBC said that closing an account was not a decision they made ‘lightly’ and if the customer provided the information before the date specified, their account would not be closed.
