Fire crews were called to the blaze at the Green Olive restaurant on Anley Street at about 5.20 pm.
Three fire appliances were called to the scene and three hosereel jets were used to extinguish the blaze.
A large fan was also used to clear the smoke.
One crew remained on the scene dampening down the property and a fire investigation will take place on Friday evening.
