Plans were submitted earlier this year to convert the Le Seelleur building on Oxford Road into three new apartments. Jersey Property Holdings, which owns the site on behalf of the States, plans to sell the building once consent is obtained to raise funds for the Health Department.
The building was left to the States in 1996 following the death of builder Harold Le Seelleur, who wanted the site to used to help the ‘aged, infirm and needy’.
But this week Deputy Sam Mézec attacked the plans, saying that the site should instead be donated to the parish of St Helier, so it could be converted into a new community centre.
