Senator Alan Maclean has hit back at claims by Environmental lobbyists that the finance project would delay the building of a hospital on scrubland next to Jardin de la Mar, close to the Radisson Blu Hotel, as the site is needed as a temporary car park.
Replacement parking has been offered over the road from the Esplanade car park, where the first building of the JIFC is being built, and under the terms of the Jersey Development Company’s planning permit, the spaces lost while development is taking place must be maintained nearby.
Earlier this month, campaigners Save Our Shoreline Jersey claimed that that meant the Waterfront was not a viable site for the new hospital because it was likely to be needed for parking for several years.
