Health’s voluntary redundancies cost more than £1 million

However, Treasury Minister Alan Maclean has said that applications from senior staff are likely to be refused.

A total of 101 civil servants will have left their jobs by the end of this year under the voluntary release scheme, taking with them severance packages worth an average of £46,199 each and, of those, 24 are employees of the Health Department, which has the joint highest number of total staff along with the Infrastructure Department.

The voluntary redundancy scheme was launched last year as part of the States’ drive to find £70 million of public-sector-staff savings by 2019 to help plug a predicted budget deficit of £145 million.
