Police examining Heath child abuse claims seek yacht crew

As part of an inquiry into at least seven allegations of abuse expected to cost millions, police are to spend a year trawling through the late former prime minister’s private papers, according to the The Times.

The papers are known as the Sir Edward Heath archive and are now kept at the Bodleian Library near Swindon. The archive includes diaries and personal letters and will reportedly be examined for any evidence which could aid the inquiry.

It emerged last year that Sir Edward, who died in 2005 aged 89, was one of a number of ‘people of public prominence’ who had been investigated by the States police as part of an inquiry into historical child abuse codenamed Operation Whistle.
