Many of Britain’s best-loved biscuits remain absent from Jersey supermarkets after floods forced the closure of the United Biscuits factory in Carlisle, which produces several well-known products including custard creams, bourbon creams, McVities ginger nuts and Carrs’ table water biscuits.
Islanders may have noticed that the supply of some of the most popular biscuits is currently rather sparse, however retailers Waitrose, the Co-op and Sandpiper CI stores have replaced some products with alternatives to ‘bridge the gap’.
It is expected that normal biscuit production will not resume for another two months.
