Senator Philip Ozouf, who has responsibility for competition, told the States Assembly on Monday that he has asked the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority to investigate Island gas prices.

He said that a recent review by the JCRA had found that there were no reasonable grounds to suspect that fuel markets in Jersey were not acting in the best interests of consumers, but that further analysis was required to ‘better understand the situation’.

Senator Ozouf said that it was a ‘very high priority’ to ensure that Islanders got a good deal on fuel prices.
