Fire Service rescue holidaymaker caught out by tide

A 25-YEAR-OLD holidaymaker and her dog were rescued from the beach at St Aubin on Saturday after they were caught out by the rising tide.

The Fire and Rescue Service launched their inshore lifeboat at around 7 pm following a report from the Coastguard that the woman and her pet had been cut off by the rising tide.

Rescue crews launched their boat from La Haule Slip and the woman was found on the shore between St Aubin and Belcroute.

The rescue was made difficult due to the strong winds and high swell.

Crew Commander Terrence Noel urged people who are planning to visit Jersey’s coastal areas to check the condition and state of the tide before setting out.
