Jersey Charity Auction today

[breakout title=”How does the Charity Auction work?” align=”right”]As many as 200 lots are put into batches of six items.

  • Each has a 10 minute window for the presenters to sell on air.
  • Listeners can ring the call centre and ask for the latest price, and bid for a lot.
  • The auction phone number is 505 808.
  • The calls come in to the call centre at Parade Road manned by volunteers of Rotary de la Manche.
  • The radio presenters will have a screen showing them the prices and the top bidders.
  • At the end of the 10 minutes, a timer will go off and a bell is rung in the call centre so no more calls will be accepted for those lots.
  • The winning bidders are then called back by the call centre and told they have won.
  • Then the presenters move onto the next six lots and so on.
  • However, there are ten items that are more valuable than the other lots, which make up the ‘Luxury Lot Auction’ (details below).
  • These items are on two white boards in the call centre and people can bid for those all day, with a final 15 minute burst of bidding at the end of the day.[/breakout]
