Jersey Fire and Rescue tweeted: ‘Favourable weather forecast update for early hours has reduced our risk of flooding, but our Gsy friends are suffering serious flooding!’
The maximum wind recorded at Jersey Airport was west north-west severe gale F9 with a gust to 67 mph.
The wind is expected to increase again tonight to strong Force 7 to gale Force 8, after decreasing during the day to Force 5 or 6.
