As well as very large waves and seaweed coming over the walls, rocks and boulders were also being flung onto the roads.
Victoria Avenue was closed, as was Havre des Pas, Grouville coast road and areas close to Green Island.
The Met Office issued a red warning, the highest possible alert, for Sunday morning’s 39.5 ft high tide at 8.05 am.
