Flights continued throughout the evening for 700 delayed passengers, the last flight into the Island, a British Airways plane from Gatwick, arriving shortly after 1 am.
A power cut at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal meant flight delays throughout the day, and this followed Monday night’s storm which had already resulted in disruption to flights and ferries.
After the last flight had arrived this morning, Aiport management posted a thankyou on Facebook to everyone for their help.
‘A huge well done to all the guys and girls from Jersey Airport and of course, its business partners who have worked hard to get 700 delayed passengers where they needed to be in time for Christmas,’ they said. ‘From all of us at Jersey Airport, we hope you have a very merry Christmas!’
Their message was greeted by several congratulatory messages, thanking staff for their efforts.
