Yesterday’s storm had already resulted in disruption to flights and ferries and the London Airport’s power cut has added to the problems.
Jersey Airport was expected to stay open late on Christmas Eve to try to allow all passengers to travel. If unsuccessful, management were considering opening the Airport on Christmas Day.

Last night’s storm also resulted in three people being injured and dozens of trees coming down.
Jersey was battered by strong winds and heavy rain, with winds reaching storm force ten in the Channel and gusts of up to 75 mph being recorded at its peak around midnight.
A man was hit by a falling branch and became trapped under a tree in St Martin, and an honorary policeman was injured by a tree in Grouville. Both were taken to hospital for treatment but their injuries were not thought to be serious.
All fast ferry services to and from Jersey were cancelled and those arriving on Condor’s Commodore Clipper slow boat faced heaving seas amid gales of up to 70 mph during an overnight crossing from the UK.
Today, the Clipper arrived just before 8 am and left on its return leg to Portsmouth at 10 am – two hours later than scheduled.
