Transport and Technical Services’ decision to reopen the road comes as a result of safety work on the rock face being completed earlier than expected.
After a routine inspection three months ago and a subsequent rockfall, the area was closed off to all traffic and pedestrians. Islanders were warned that the rock face was hazardous and in need of urgent stabilisation work, which has caused congestion around St Helier at peak times during the day.
Two weeks ago the west-bound lane was declared safe and was reopened. Geomarine Ltd, acting on behalf of the Parish of St Helier, has continued to work on the cliff face to enable both lanes to be passed as safe.
