At least nine people died when the police helicopter crashed into a busy pub on Friday night and another 32 have been injured, some seriously.
This morning an area of The Clutha pub where the disaster happened had still not been searched and there were fears that the death toll could rise.
Chief Minister Ian Gorst said that many Islanders had close connections to Glasgow and will have been saddened by the tragedy.
He said: ‘Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by this horrific accident, both those who were caught up in it, their families and friends, and the emergency services who have worked ceaselessly since Friday to rescue survivors and make the area safe.
‘I know the many Islanders with close connections to Glasgow will be saddened by this tragic event, but also proud of the bravery shown by the people of Glasgow, who acted so courageously when help was needed.’
