Around 200 people attended the showing of the film One PM Central Standard Time at Cineworld after premières of it were held in the last few weeks in New York, Washington DC and London’s Curzon Cinema in Shaftsbury Avenue.
The film, narrated by Hollywood star George Clooney, recalls the race in November 1963 by journalists to report Kennedy’s assassination.
The production, made during Colonial Pictures’ 25th anniversary year, focuses on the moments when the bullets were fired by sniper Lee Harvey Oswald at the presidential motorcade and the immediate confusion which followed in Dallas and news studios in New York as they waited for their journalists at the scene to confirm what had happened.
Alastair Layzell, who produced and directed the 90-minute film, said that they were delighted to learn that its screening nationwide on the PBS television channel in America had produced 45 per cent better viewer ratings than normally expected at that time.
‘We are also very pleased with the reviews from the magazine Variety and the Los Angeles Times,’ he said.
