The high-speed catamaran was already undergoing repairs to one of its four engines when another engine developed problems during a crossing from Weymouth to the Channel Islands on Sunday afternoon.

The ship was forced to turn back to the port and Condor arranged another crossing from Poole.

The Vitesse is now down to two engines and is not permitted to sail. It is expected that the vessel will return to service on Thursday.

According to a statement on Condor’s website, the Condor Express was due to operate extra sailings from Weymouth today to accommodate passengers booked on to the Vitesse crossings to and from Poole.
