Staff – known as partners – from the supermarket’s three stores have been donating their time, through the company’s Partner Volunteering Scheme, to help create bags of confetti, which they will be handing out to spectators at this year’s two Battle parades.

Brian Newland, the personnel manager at Waitrose Red Houses, said that the supermarket believes it is essential to support community projects such as the Battle of Flowers.

‘We encourage our partners to give back to the local community and our Partner Volunteering Scheme enables them to provide support to charities and good causes across Jersey during their working hours,’ he said.
