Mr Murphy (73) was first elected to the States as Constable in September 2003 and was re-elected three times.
In a statement, Chief Minister Ian Gorst said: ‘On behalf of Jersey’s Council of Ministers, I would like to express our sadness at the death of the Constable of Grouville, Dan Murphy, and convey our sympathy to his family.
