The Economic Development Minister launched the action in London to safeguard the name for Jersey producers.
Senator Alan Maclean said that the court challenge was supported by Genuine Jersey and other Island trade groups and companies.
The minister stressed that the case was not about stopping Chanel using the name Jersey, adding that he was delighted Chanel has chosen to associate its brand with the Island.
