The States heard yesterday how families with members who need short stays in care homes have had their access cut because of a lack of space. Three Islanders are also currently living in the UK and waiting until there is enough room to accommodate them in Jersey.
Assistant Health and Social Services Minister Judy Martin said: ‘We have in place some outreach programmes and we are opening another short break house called The Haven. This will be for short-term respite and should be ready next month.’
However Deputy Jackie Hilton said the department’s response had not been good enough and that families were being let down ‘again and again and again.’
