The event is now in its fifth year and challenges walkers to cover 18 circuits of the Breakwater – the equivalent of 14 miles and the distance between Jersey and France.

The ‘walk on water’ will raise money for two Christian organisations – the Apostleship of the Sea, which supports seafarers around the world and will receive 80 per cent of the funds raised, and the Knights of St Columba, which will receive 20 per cent of the funds towards its charitable work.

Last year’s event raised a total of £6,000 and it is hoped a similar amount can be achieved this time. Islanders are invited to join in the challenge by turning up at the Breakwater tomorrow any time between 9 am and 2 pm.
