In findings published today, the States’ spending watchdog – the Public Accounts Committee – has criticised the Economic Development department over how it dealt with the grant to UK production company Canbedone Productions to help with the creation of the fantasy film ‘Knights of Impossingworth’.
The committee has identified what it calls ‘numerous shortcomings’ in the process and says that the department failed to carry out proper checks on the people, the film and the company involved before handing over the cash in three instalments in 2011 and last year.
