Housing Minister Andrew Green wants to change the rules governing Victoria Cottage Homes on St Saviour’s Hill and the George V Cottage Homes in Route de St Aubin, so that the States can charge higher rents to new tenants.
If Deputy Green’s proposal is approved by the States, the existing tenants, who currently pay weekly contributions of £31.95 for a single unit and £55.91 for a double unit, would not see any change to their payments.
However, any new residents that moved into one of the cottages would face higher rates set at 90 per cent of the market equivalent at the time.
