celebrates 110 years of the famous carnival.

After last year’s wash-out, when exhibitors were soaked by frequent showers, the old saying ‘It never rains on Battle day’ came true as the floats prepared to parade under blue skies and in Mediterranean-style heat.

Up to 13,000 people have descended on Victoria Avenue for the parade after the Battle teams worked through the night to get their floats ready.

The parish of St Clement are hoping to hold on to the top prize, the Prix d’Honneur, for a third year in a row, although they are facing competition from a number of the other larger floats, which this year include nine parish entries.
