The driver of the Bidan Family and Friends entry, Cinders With A Twist, was unable to get the exhibit started when it was due to leave the Meadowbank shed this morning. It left the shed later than planned – and quickly began causing tailbacks in the rush-hour traffic – before finally making it down to the parade arena on Victoria Avenue.
Vingtenier Mitch Couriard, who has been overseeing all of the 29 floats’ journeys this morning, said: ‘The one major delay this morning has been around the Bel Royal junction as a result of a float which didn’t start earlier this morning at Meadowbank,’ he said. ‘Generally everything has gone reasonably well on the roads this morning though and there have been no incidents on the road as a result of the float movements.
