Defending his department’s decision to invest £75,000 in the club, which will compete in the second tier of English rugby this year, Senator Alan Maclean said that marketing Jersey through the club will bring in an extra 300 fans per match in the Island.

This would generate more than £108,000 in GST receipts and more than £151,000 tax intake, he said.

The minister accepted that more people would be coming to the Island anyway but he said that the calculated figures were ‘above and beyond’ what they would expect to get.
