Police have asked people finding needles lying around in public places not to pick them up, but to call them so that they can be disposed of safely.
But the success of a campaign to clear needles off town streets three years ago has also been praised, with St Helier municipal services director Tony Andrews saying that there has been a big drop in the number reported since 2009.
Last week it was reported that syringes had been found in Parade Park, and a JEP reader said that three dirty needles were found on a beach in St Clement close to where children were playing on Sunday morning.
