The 43-year-old has already cycled more than 2,700 kilometres in the Dallaglio Flintoff 2012 Cycle Slam since setting off from Olympia in Athens with 60 others on 23 April.

Graeme, who spent much of his time preparing for the 2,872 km cycle marathon riding on Jersey’s roads, said: ‘Sadly I am going to miss the last day of the ride, which is a huge disappointment in one sense, but the reason for missing the last of 22 days in the saddle gives me a great sense of privilege and honor as I have been asked to represent Chelsea as an ambassador at the Champions League final.
