Trustees at Sanctuary House, a refuge run by Caring Hands charity for men needing help to rebuild their lives, say that they are being deluged with often desperate requests for help made worse by the recession.

At the moment, 11 men are living in the charity’s property in St Aubin’s High Street and beds are being paid for for another dozen in guest houses around the village.

However, in two weeks’ time the tourist season opens and the men will have to leave the guest houses.

Charity trustees Colin Taylor, Deputy Sean Power and the Rev Mark Bond, the St Brelade Rector say they do not know where the men will go.
