Proposals are being considered for Far Eastern firms to base clean-energy production plants in Jersey.

Meetings were held last week between Island authorities and a Japanese web TV business that is promoting the idea of such businesses from the Far East using Jersey as a showcase destination to be able to access European markets.

Three senior executives from UBrain TV held a series of meetings, including one with Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean.

They left the Island on Friday confident that deals could be done that would allow Japanese firms involved in clean energy to set up commercial production plants here.

UBrain is being assisted in its efforts by local trust company Whitmill.
