Just after 9 am this morning a muffled bang was heard and a brown dust cloud were seen as more than 800 tonnes of rock were blasted away from the cliff face above the beach’s pier.

The two-month project to remove the dangerous section of cliff came to an explosive conclusion when experts from Ronez blew up part of the headland.

Overhanging rock was putting boats parked near the pier at risk with parts of the cliff face falling, or ‘rabbling’ down.
