A two-day emergency planning exercise is being held at the four-star Waterfront hotel involving UK and Jersey delegates.
The JEP has learned that many of the 24 top-ranking States officers attending were given a room for the night.
As ordinary Islanders take the brunt of increased taxes and public spending cuts, the expense – which could be up to £100 per room – was felt to be justified because the exercise was due to finish late and start again early this morning.
