Come back, matron – all is forgiven!

From Donald McGregor.
NOW we know why our hospital and probably and all other States departments have lost all sense of discipline. You, matron, have been replaced by desk jockeys, sometimes known as very senior civil servants. Just look at Jersey!
Dear matron, please come back and bring your wonderful discipline. That is the word everyone is scared of. I remember those wonderful days when I had the pleasure of being a patient in Matron Hook’s empire – Jersey Hospital.
Let us wonder who decided to get rid of discipline, ie matron. Who looked ahead and saw the chance of creating highly paid senior civil service posts? How many senior civil servants try to run our hospital, at great cost?
How much have we taxpayers paid to three senior civil servants to run our hospital, yet they did not see what our new extraordinarily paid senior civil servant has suddenly spotted and tells us taxpayers that we need to find millions to either repair or replace worn-out parts or replace the entire building.
What were our highly paid hospital senior civil servants doing for years? Thinking up new ways of drawing blood from the public stone? Why is matron-type discipline so feared?
Come back, matron, please!
