Earlier this week a survey showed that confidence among sector employers was at its lowest recorded ebb. Jersey Construction Council chairman Martin Holmes said that the fall in confidence was due to uncertainty created by a number of factors rather than any single issue.
‘For example, there is very limited capital spending coming forward from the States,’ he said.
Mr Holmes said that the position was being further hampered because this is an election year and the Environment Minister, Robert Duhamel, may only be in the post for four months. He also pointed out that that the States had also just debated the Island Plan. ‘People want to know what is going to happen in the wake of the election,’ he said.
