John Molloy, who lived in the Island between 1986 and 2009, is now the manager of a foreign language school in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, where Dr Grandin first went to work in 1906 and died at the age of 48, in 1924.
Mr Molloy has been so moved by the way in which Dr Grandin’s contribution to that community is still celebrated there that he is hoping that education, tourism and friendship links could be established between the people of Yunnan province and Jersey.
