Scott Geddes (22) and an unknown man chased the victim from street to street in town before punching and kicking him while on the ground, the Royal Court heard.
Geddes admitted committing a grave and criminal assault on a man on 20 October in Conway Street and maliciously causing damage to a car on 31 October at the Waterfront.
He was sentenced to 240 hours of community service – the equivalent of 18 months’ jail, fined £200 and ordered to serve 18 months’ probation.
