Jersey’s women will not play on the Wednesday of the week-long competition, but Jersey’s men may have to – but only if they are drawn first up against Western Isles, who do not play on Sundays for religious reasons.

That would certainly be the short straw, with the Western Isles and their opponents then facing five games in five days.

A total of 20 men’s teams were in the provisional entry for this summer’s Games, but four islands have since withdrawn leaving a more easily managed 16.
