Eight companies teamed up under the name Jersey Mechanical Alliance to win one deal while four others came together as Jersey Allied Building Services Ltd to pick up another.
The maintenance packages were put out to tender last year by Jersey Property Holdings and by working together the small firms managed to secure contracts that they would not otherwise have got.
The Jersey Mechanical Alliance is made up of lead contractor Plumbing and Heating Services Ltd, H&V Engineers, CA Carruthers Ltd, CAP Pools Ltd, Bell Pump Services, Dyno-Rod, Jersey Gas and Autorain Irrigation Ltd.
Wayne Shales, a director of lead contractor Plumbing and Heating Services Ltd, said that between them the firms that are part of the alliance employ over 40 staff.
