Ali Denyer moved to the Island in May and, after having her daughter Ellie seven months ago, she found herself without the usual support networks of family and friends.
In a bid to help others in her position she has now started a meet-up group to organise informal get-togethers for parents and mums-to-be, the first one of which takes place on Monday.
She has also recently made contact with a woman who has set up a group on the social networking website Facebook for mums in Jersey, Kathryn Lockett, who will be joining the group on Monday with her 14-month-old son Jake.
They are meeting for the first time on Monday at 10 am at the café at Jersey Goldsmiths Lion Park.
