Last night Andy Gray was sacked from his £1.7 million job as one of the broadcaster’s top sports pundits and presenter Richard Keys remains suspended after they were caught on microphone mocking assistant referee Sian Massey’s understanding of the offside rule.

Yet Jersey official Kayleigh Alexandre says that while sexist banter does occur in football most of it is inoffensive, and the comments made by Gray and Keys do not reflect most attitudes in the game.

‘I do think this has been blown out of proportion, and a lot of it has to do with old-fashioned views,’ she said.
