Although Island competitors are still hopeful of qualifying to represent Great Britain, not least of all bronze medal winning Commonwealth Games badminton star Elizabeth Cann, de Rue has been named on an initial shortlist for officiating at the London event.
Other Jersey athletes likely to have an Olympic aim include top archer Lucy O’Sullivan, badminton export Mariana Agathangelou, who joined Cann on the podium in Delhi after helping England win the team bronze medal, and hockey star Beckie Herbert among others.
