Developers Comprop recently announced plans to inject £30 million into redeveloping the former brewery. They would like to build a 70,000 sq ft supermarket with a café and seven floors of car parking.
Deputies Judy Martin and Trevor Pitman say that tenants and small businesses in the area have a number of different concerns. ‘They had just received the good news over the abandonment of plans for the 800-space car park on the old Ann Court site. Then similar plans, plus a supermarket, are now planned less than 50 feet away,’ they said in a statement.
‘This has got many worried again regarding extra traffic, loss of business, and the fact that the Town Park has still not been started.
