Jack Edward Hicks was born by Caesarean section on 17 March but complications soon arose and he was rushed into intensive care with breathing difficulties.
A team from Southampton General Hospital were on their way and had the drug on the plane, but they arrived just minutes after he died at 1 pm on 18 March.
His parents, Leisha and Alfie Hicks, said that a paediatrician at the Hospital told them that Jack would have had an 80 per cent chance of survival if he had been given nitric oxide. It is believed that the cost of the drug is about £1,000.
